Senior citizen arrested for murdering youth near Madurai

MADURAI: A 65-year-old man was arrested for murdering a youth in a village near Peraiyur in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as S Selvakannan,23, of Puliampatti.
Recently, Selvakannan picked up a quarrel with S Ramaraj,65, of the same village under the influence of alcohol and beat him up. Ramaraj was looking for a chance to take revenge.
On Wednesday, Selvakannan consumed liquor along with his friends near a village community hall. While his friends left the place, Selvakannan slept there. Ramaraj, who went there, smashed Selvakannan's head with a stone, killing him on the spot.
Based on a complaint filed by the deceased's father R Srinivasan, the Villur police registered a case and arrested the accused.
