Rly honours staffer who spotted crack

Madurai: Madurai railway division on Monday honoured its employee who spotted the crack on the chassis of a bogie attached to Kollam – Chennai Egmore Express at Sengottai on Sunday. Divisional railway manager P Ananth presented the safety award to S Raghupathy, carriage and wagon technician, at the weekly safety meeting.
As reported, Ragupathy had detected a developing sole bar crack on the trailing bogie (four-wheel set) of S3 coach of train No 16102 Kollam – Chennai Egmore Express when it reached Sengottai on Sunday. Subsequently, the coach was detached at Sengottai. At Madurai, a sleeper coach was added to the formation. The award was presented to Ragupathy in appreciation of his dedication, prompt reporting and overall safety consciousness. Additional railway manager T Ramesh Babu, senior divisional mechanical engineer P Satheesh Saravanan, senior divisional safety officer Mohaideen Pitchai and other officers were present on the occasion.
