BJP’s district president Dr Saravanan and party workers staged a protest at Thiruvalluvar statue. Meanwhile, the party’s suburban district president Maha Suseendran staged a protest at Moondrumavadi junction.

CPM workers led by state committee member R Vijayarajan submitted a petition to the corporation commissioner stating that the hike in property tax will severely affect commercial establishments and residents recovering from the impact of pandemic. The statement observed that the state government has announced increasing the property tax of houses and commercial establishments ranging from 25% to 150%. The tax hike would burden the people. Besides, the house owners would raise the rents that could affect people living in rented buildings.
