MADURAI: A public interest litigation filed at the Madurai bench of the Madras high court has sought improvement of facilities at the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH), Madurai. After considering the petition, the division bench has ordered notice to the health secretary, director of medical education, GRH dean, Madurai collector and four others. Petitioner C Anandaraj, who is the director of an NGO called Equal Rights, said the authorities neglected the affairs of GRH, though newspapers had raised irregularities and shortcomings at the hospital.In the petition, Anandaraj sought direction for uninterrupted power supply, sufficient stock of medicine, filling up of vacancies in various posts and adequate safety measures. He also demanded the constitution of a special ward for patients having no attendants. Further the plea sought direction to the authorities to constitute a special committee for better administration of hospital.The matter was adjourned for four weeks.
