No religion supports terror, right wing extremism on rise: Durai Vaiko
Madurai: MDMK leader and MP Durai Vaiko strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, reiterating that no particular religion supports terrorism. He was leading a protest by the MDMK against the Union govt over the Wakf amendment bill on Saturday in Madurai.
"Be it Islam or Christianity, no religion permits or calls for terror. It is always a sin. But some right-wing Hindu and Islamic extremist groups are turning it into a religious issue when it is not, especially spewing hatred on social media platforms. It is a fact that other Muslims in Tamil Nadu or India have no links to the terrorists," said Durai Vaiko in his address.
He added that humanity persisted even during the Pahalgam terror attack as Muslim brothers came together for the aid of their Hindu siblings.
"The Union govt does not have answers to the opposition's questions on the rise in unemployment, the price hike of essentials, or working towards ensuring education and development. But they want the Wakf amendment bill to play religious politics," said Durai Vaiko.
The MDMK protesters also sought the removal of Governor R N Ravi for acting against the welfare of the people.
