Nine held for attempt to murder

Madurai: The SS Colony police arrested nine people for attempting to murder a TNSTC conductor in Sammattipuram.
The main accused, Pandi and the conductor Kalirajan were residing in the same area 2.5 years ago. Kalirajan’s cousin Hariharan came to stay at his house and he fell in love with Pandi’s daughter Aparna. After Pandi came to know about the affair, he warned Hariharan and Kalirajan also dissuaded him.
However, Pandi was nurturing this previous enmity and conspired with nine others to murder Kalirajan. They waylaid Kalirajan, abused him verbally and attempted to murder him on Thursday. The SS Colony filed IPC sections 147, 148, 341, 294 (b) and 307 for rioting, wielding deadly weapons, wrongful restraint, using obscene words and attempting to commit murder on Pandi and nine others.
