Murugan accuses Stalin of political diversion over NEP
Madurai: Union minister of state for broadcasting L Murugan, on Monday, said that Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin is diverting people for political gains on the National Education Policy (NEP). The Tamil Nadu govt signed for the PM-Shri scheme first but withdrew later, Murugan said and added that Union minister of education Dharmendra Pradhan had told him that he was giving full cooperation to the Tamil Nadu govt in allotting central funds to the state.Addressing reporters, Murugan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has great respect for Tamil people, their culture, and heritage, but Stalin is spreading false information. Pradhan clearly explained the central govt's stand. The New Education Policy is the need of the hour, and it was prepared by experts after many years of work. "What is wrong in accepting the NEP?" he asked."The NEP focuses on promoting the mother tongue. Under the three-language mode, students can learn any language they prefer in addition to their mother tongue. There is no restriction on it. The country has progressed, and people want development. The time has changed, and there is no need to do politics using language," said Murugan.Commenting on the Union Budget, Murugan said that it was created with a long-term vision focusing on the year 2047. The Tamil Nadu govt has been allotted funds for all developmental works. The state was sanctioned 11 lakh crore in the last 10 years, the MoS added.
