MADURAI: Madurai and neighbouring districts like Dindigul and Virudhunagar recorded steady rainfall on Thursday and Friday, but the rains are yet to intensify in south Tamil Nadu. Madurai district, in the 24 hours till 6 am on Friday, recorded 299.30 mm of rain in total and 15 mm rain on average. Peraiyur had the highest with 44 mm rainfall, followed by Idayapatti (40 mm). There were overnight spells of rain across Madurai city.

In Dindigul, the total rainfall recorded in the 24 hours was 109 mm. Natham with 46 mm rainfall had the highest. Virudhunagar district recorded a total rainfall of 291 mm in 24 hours. Watrap and Srivilliputtur were among areas which received the highest amount of rain. Officials stated that so far 11 houses/huts were partly damaged.
