Man shot dead at police station near Ramanathapuram

MADURAI: A man, who was picked up for questioning after he threatened the public with a knife, was shot dead by a sub-inspector at the S P Pattinam police station in Ramanathapuram district on Tuesday evening.
Tension prevailed in the area after the man, identified as Syed Mohammed, was shot dead by sub-inspector Kalidoss.
Police said Kalidoss opened fire on Mohammed for self-defence when the latter tried to attack him with a knife during questioning.
