Man rescues turtle from Madurai city

Madurai: A man rescued a turtle and handed it over to the forest department officials in Madurai on Saturday.K Sivanesan, a resident of Valar Nagar in Madurai city, said that he noticed a turtle in front of his house during the early hours of Saturday. He said he rescued the turtle and informed the forest department officials on Saturday.An official from the forest department said it was a common species of turtle seen in ponds and wells. Due to rainfall in the city, it might have come out of a nearby pond. The turtle was released to a pond in the forest area in the district, he said.
