Man, 28, murdered by gang in Madurai
Madurai: A gang murdered a man over previous enmity in Yagappa Nagar on Thursday evening. Police arrested five people on Friday evening. Police said the deceased, G Vasudevan, 28, and his family had come to Yagappa Nagar from Kerala. The prime accused, P Aravinthan, 28, had teased Vasudevan’s sister which ended in a fight. Vasudevan asked Aravinthan to keep away from her, following which the latter decided to eliminate Vasudevan.Along with his accomplices V Muthukumar, 21, and M Muruganandam, 30, Aravinthan barged into Vasudevan’s house with swords on Thursday. Vasudevan tried to flee and sought refuge in a dry wash shop nearby but the gang followed him there. They attacked him with swords and slit his throat before fleeing. Though local people rushed the fatally injured Vasudevan to hospital, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.The body of Vasudevan was sent to the Government Rajaji Hospital for postmortem. Based on a complaint from Vasudevan’s wife Radhika, Anna Nagar police filed a case against Aravinthan, Muthukumar and Muruganandham and booked two others, V Ganeshpandi and M Indhukumar. tnn
