Man, 2 children drown in Virudhunagar reservoir

Virudhunagar: Three people, two of them children, drowned in a reservoir near Virudhunagar town on Monday morning.

The deceased have been identified as K Adikesavan, 10, his elder brother K Hariharan, 14, from Senthivinayagapuram Street in Virudhunagar and their maternal uncle Solai Murugan, 40, from Madurai.

According to police, Adikesavan and Hariharan insisted Murugan to take them to the Kullursandhai reservoir. While taking bath the kids ventured into the deeper part of the vast reservoir. As they started drowning, Murugan tried to save them, but he too started drowning. Passersby who saw them struggling to stay afloat rushed to the spot. But, by the time they reached, the three had already drowned. TNN
