Madurai receives heavy rain

MADURAI: Several parts of Madurai district received heavy rain on Wednesday morning.
It started drizzling from morning onwards followed by heavy rain in several places. In Madurai city, heavy rain lasted for almost an hour, starting at 8.45am.
Most office goers and school students were caught in the rain, and water clogging was reported from several parts of the city.
“There were heavy showers in the district and the city on Wednesday morning. The rainfall details will be recorded and available only on Thursday morning,” a PWD official said.
The rain gave a pleasant surprise to people as the region has been experiencing poor monsoon in last three years.
