Kids write postcards for parents, ask them to vote
Madurai: Students of Chairman Manicka Vasagam Middle School in Devakottai, Sivaganga district, carried out an initiative to raise election awareness by sending postcards to their parents, urging them to vote and ensure 100% voter turnout.The message on the postcard stated, "Do not forget your invaluable vote; strengthen Indian democracy by voting." Devakottai deputy superintendent of police Kannan visited the school and congratulated the students. He urged the students to lovingly persuade their parents to vote.Headmaster L Chokkalingam said the initiative carried out by the students was "a powerful reminder that voting is the democratic duty of each and every one of us." He added that such activities will also educate the students on the need for voting and encourage them to vote when they grow up.In Madurai, around 1,000 ICDS employees participated in voter awareness activities. They made a formation of a hand with an inked finger to promote 100% voter participation. Following that, they released balloons and performed ‘oyilaattam', a traditional dance form.At Vadipatti, people took part in cultural performances and made rangoli with quotes such as "no voter left behind, vote for sure and ensure 100% voter participation." They also painted a tree, symbolising the "power of democracy". They also took part in other activities to create voter awareness.
