DINDIGUL: Police inspector Veera Gandhi who was accused of sexually assaulting a woman cop in Dindigul district, was dismissed from service by Dindigul range DIG Abhinav Kumar. The woman constable filed a complaint against Gandhi in October 2021 while he was posted in the Keeranur station near Palani.

Meanwhile, an internal Vishaka committee was formed under then ADSP Lavanya to investigate the charges. Gandhi was transferred to the Armed Reserve.

The committee inquired with the woman constable, Gandhi and their colleagues a.t the station. Based on the proof produced by the woman, phone recordings, messages between Gandhi and her, the committee found the allegations true. The report was also submitted to the government.

Based on the report, the DIG dismissed Gandhi from service. The dismissal is part of departmental action while the court case on Gandhi is still under way, said police sources.
