Heavyweights, debutants file papers in south TN
Madurai: Heavyweights from across southern Tamil Nadu, including ministers like Thangam Thennarasu and debutants like actor-director Sundar C, filed their nominations in their respective constituencies on Saturday.
Madurai North DMK candidate G Thalapathy, MLA, and AIADMK's P Saravanan filed their nominations at Madurai North zone corporation office. Thiruparankundram AIADMK candidate V V Rajan Chellappa, MLA, and DMK candidate Kiruthiga Thangapandi filed their papers at Thiruparankundram tahsildar office.
In Thirumangalam, AIADMK's sitting MLA R B Udhayakumar and DMK candidate Sedapatti Manimaran filed nominations. Puthiya Neethi Katchi (New Justice Party) candidate in the AIADMK alliance, actor-director Sundar C, contesting from Madurai Central, filed nomination along with his wife and BJP functionary Khushbu and Puthiya Neethi Katchi founder A C Shanmugam. DMK candidate and minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan is yet to file his nomination.
Oddanchatram DMK candidate and sitting MLA R Sakkarapani filed his nomination at the tahsildar office. DMK sitting minister and MLA of Tiruchuli in Virudhunagar district, Thangam Thennarasu, filed his nomination.
Former police officer and encounter specialist S Velladorai, representing Sasikala's AIPTMMK, filed his nomination for Nanguneri constituency in Tirunelveli district.
In Bodinayakannur in Theni district, AIADMK candidate V T Narayanasamy filed his nomination. His chief rival, former chief minister and sitting MLA O Panneerselvam is yet to file his nomination.
