Madurai: Madras high court has granted bail to three men who murdered a man by knocking him down using a car due to previous enmity in

Virudhunagar

district. The court was hearing the bail petitions of Vijayakumar, Rajapandi and Pandiarajan who were arrested by

Pandalkudi

police in March.
The prosecution case was that Pethukumar, a resident of Vellaiyapuram, was in love with a woman of the area. Even after she was married to her uncle, Pethukumar frequently spoke to her over the phone, which her family members objected to. Due to this, there was a quarrel between both the families. Subsequently, Pethukumar called the woman’s relative

Senthil

to the temple in the village to settle the issue amicably. When Senthil and his sons went there, Pethukumar and the petitioners assaulted him using an iron rod. When Senthil’s relatives attempted to take him to a nearby hospital on a two-wheeler, Pethukumar followed them in a car and knocked down the two-wheeler resulting in Senthil’s death.
