HC dismisses plea to revoke nod for statue in Madurai district

Madurai: Madras high court on Monday dismissed a plea seeking to revoke the permission granted for erection of the statue of king Perumpidugu Mutharaiyar in

, a resident of Ramanathapuram district. The petitioner said he came across the pamphlet as well as poster regarding erection of the statue by DMK youth wing secretary and MLA Udhayanidhi

in Madurai on March 19. When the court asked which permission is sought to be revoked, the petitioner’s counsel stated that he does not have the copy of the permission which is challenged. Such a petition with these averments and such prayers cannot be entertained, observed the judges, while dismissing the petition. tnn
