Madurai: Two houses in Madurai city were targeted by burglars as unknown people made off with valuable items, including gold jewellery, cash, and electronics, in separate incidents on Tuesday.
According to police, J Bimal Roy, 32, and his family were residing on Kondithozhu Street near Teppakulam. On Tuesday night, the family left their home for approximately an hour.
Upon their return, they discovered that their house had been unlawfully accessed, and unidentified burglars had absconded with 26 grams (equivalent to 3.2 sovereigns) of gold jewellery, Rs 10,000 in cash, and a precious watch. The stolen items held an estimated value of around 2.7 lakh. Prompted by

In a separate incident, the residence of D Rathina Giri, 54, located near South Gate, experienced a similar theft. The thieves managed to pilfer 7.2 grams of gold jewellery, a mobile phone, and two silver objects, collectively valued at over Rs 1 lakh. TNN
