Girl drowns in well near Madurai

MADURAI: A 10-year-old girl died after falling into a farm well near Usilampatti in Madurai district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as R Rithika of Kunnathupatti village.
Rithika and another girl, Ilakkiya, went to a farm in the village. Rithika and Ilakkiya were relatives, police said. While playing, Rithika fell into the well and drowned.Ilakkiya ran home and alerted her family members.
O being alerted, a team from the Usilampatti fire and rescue services station reached the spot and fished out the body.
The Usilampatti taluk police registered a case.
