Madurai: Police arrested four men for assaulting and robbing two people of their mobile phones and two-wheeler at knife point near Ramanathapuram Ring Road in the wee hours of Saturday. The arrested were identified as S Janarthanan, 18, N Bala Vishnu, 25, A Ajith Kumar, 21, and K Vasanthakumar, 21, from Vandiyur in Madurai.
Police said A Kumar, 27, and A Sankar Ganesh, 17, residents of Tirunelveli district were travelling from Chennai to Tirunelveli on their two-wheeler. As they crossed Ramanathapuram Ring Road, they stopped near a fruit shop to look up for directions . Suddenly, four men who were on their two-wheelers waylaid them and robbed them at knifepoint. Kumar and Sankar Ganesh also suffered cut injuries .
Within two hours of the crime, police arrested the four accused and seized the stolen mobile phones, two two-wheelers and other vehicles belonging to the accused.
The Silaiman police registered a case and arrested all four accused. It was also found that the four persons had several cases against them in various police stations.
