Dindigul: Five people were arrested by the Dindigul district police after a high-speed chase in an SUV, during which they collided with police barricades and caused minor injuries to an officer.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night during a vehicle check at Begampur junction. When an SUV approached the checkpoint, the driver ignored police instructions and sped away. The police set up barricades near Kosavapatti bus stop, but the driver hit them and continued on Natham Road toward Sanarpatti. A police team gave chase and eventually cornered the SUV near S Kodai Malai Adivaram, where they arrested V Pasupathi, 30, from Trichy. Four other occupants fled into nearby woods.
On further investigation, it was revealed that Pasupathi and his associates had previous criminal records. By Wednesday morning, police had tracked down and arrested S Karthik, 30, R Muthukumar, 31, K Anandakumar, 25, and B Veera Ganesan, 30, all from Trichy.
