Double engine govt needed for TN, will secure spl package for Madurai: BJP candidate
Madurai: A double-engine govt working in coordination with the central govt is necessary for the rapid development of the state, BJP Madurai South candidate Raama Sreenivasan said on Saturday.Sreenivasan was campaigning at the Mariamman Teppakulam in Madurai on Saturday morning, as part of the event titled "Walk with Professor". Sreenivasan claimed that he would secure a "special package" for Madurai from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to improve the basic infrastructure needs of the city within a year, if he is voted as MLA.Addressing reporters, he critiqued the DMK administration, saying they have allowed Madurai to become a "garbage city" and also that the city is plagued by broken and bad roads. He also said that the public is suffering with a non-functional corporation and a lack of basic safety. He added that he will ensure the proper implementation of existing central-level schemes, which he said the state govt is currently blocking.Earlier, Sreenivasan arrived for a morning walk around the Teppakulam, during which time he met with other walkers around the area and canvassed for votes. He was joined by other BJP cadres who walked on the side of the road at Sreenivasan's request in order not to disrupt the morning walkers.
He greeted people walking around the Teppakulam, promising change and asking for their vote in the upcoming assembly election. "There is a lot of support for the BJP in Madurai South," he said, adding that he was confident of victory. During the walk, Sreenivasan also met with roadside vendors to seek their votes. He promised more benefits to them and said he would also build improvements to their stalls.
