DMK is the only subservient party in Tamil Nadu: K Annamalai
Virudhunagar/Coimbatore: Referring to DMK as a slave to Congress party, former BJP state president K Annamalai said that DMK is the only subservient party in Tamil Nadu.
Annamalai participated in an election rally to campaign for BJP state president and BJP candidate for Sattur Assembly constituency, Nainar Nagenthran, at Alangulam in Sattur in Virudhunagar district on Saturday evening.
Addressing the gathering, Annamalai said that the Congress party has not been in power for the past 12 years. Congress party has become weak and has not won in elections in any state. Despite the same, DMK has allocated more seats to Congress by reducing the number of seats allotted to VCK and Communist parties. If there is any subservient party in Tamil Nadu, it is DMK, he said.
Listing out the number of murders, cases pertaining to crime against women and children in the past five years, Annamalai said that DMK should be removed from power only for this reason, as they are unable to safeguard the women and children and maintain law and order situation in the state.
He said that during his tour across Tamil Nadu, he was able to witness an NDA wave. He said that AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami would become chief minister after the election. He said that Nainar, who is in a close relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would be able to bring several developments for Sattur constituency. He appealed to the people to vote for Nainar and give him a historic victory in this constituency.
Earlier on Saturday morning, Annamalai campaigned for party candidate Vanathi Srinivasan in Coimbatore North constituency. Speaking to reporters, Annamalai said he would not respond to "low-level criticism" by former DMK minister V Senthil Balaji, alleging that DMK leaders were speaking out of fear of defeat. Referring to Senthil Balaji's legal issues, he claimed the minister was under pressure after spending 471 days in prison and hinted at an imminent Supreme Court verdict.
Annamalai also alleged corruption under the DMK regime, claiming he submitted evidence against state textile minister R Gandhi, of a ₹160-crore irregularity in the distribution of welfare items, to vigilance authorities, but no action had been taken. He asserted that those responsible would face consequences if there is a change in govt.
"The release of the film Jananayagan is a big mistake. I will watch it in a theatre as a fan after the elections. No one should watch the film's video on mobile phones. Linking Union Minister L Murugan to this issue is the height of malice. Aadhav Arjun is spreading misleading statements. The name of Union Minister L Murugan and the BJP should not be misused. I strongly condemn this."
In a controversial remark, Annamalai predicted that if the DMK loses the 2026 elections, MP Kanimozhi may float a separate party, while chief minister M K Stalin could take a different path, leading to internal turmoil.
Responding to concerns about Srinivasan's health, Annamalai said she would soon resume campaigning with greater vigour. Because Vanathi Srinivasan is being hospitalised, her son Adarsh joined the campaign today alongside BJP leaders.
During the campaign, Annamalai stopped at a chips shop in Nallampalayam, fried murukku and canvassed votes from customers.
