DMK, Cong instigating violence: Pon

Tuticorin: Former Union minister and BJP leader Pon Radhakrishnan accused the Congress and DMK of instigating violence in the country for their political gain. He was addressing newsmen at Tuticorin airport on Tuesday. When asked about the recent protests against Citizenship Amendment Act, Pon Radhakrishnan said that a recent survey revealed that nearly 60% of people opined that the protest staged by the DMK was not right. He said the protest would not in any way affect the results of the local body elections in the state.

He said that the results of the assembly elections in a state is based on local politics. Forming a strong alliance during election is vital. The BJP had faced a setback in the Jharkhand assembly elections. The party would work to overcome the setbacks in the future, he said. Speaking about electing the state president of the party, Pon said that they had planned to conduct the election this month, however, as the local body election was notified, the BJP would conduct the process next month.
