Custody death: Hosp staff appear before CBI

Madurai: Six more people, including Thiruppuvanam Government Hospital employees, appeared for inquiry on Wednesday at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office in Madurai in connection with the custodial death of temple security guard B Ajith Kumar. Dr Karthikeyan, nurse Shanthi, and helper Alagar, as well as Madapuram Bathrakaliamman temple employees Baskaran, Kannan and Karthik appeared for the inquiry in the morning following a summons issued to them.Sources said the inquiry continued through the day. The CBI team had already conducted an inquiry and examined six other witnesses including Ajith Kumar's brother Naveen Kumar. The CBI team has also been gathering various pieces of evidence such as CCTV camera video footage and clues. Madras high court had directed the CBI team to file the final report on the inquiry before the jurisdictional court on or before Aug 20.
