Crime rate higher in northern states than TN: Durai Vaiko
Madurai: Countering the statements made by opposition parties about rising crimes in Tamil Nadu, Trichy MP Durai Vaiko said that crime rate is higher in northern states when compared to Tamil Nadu.
Durai Vaiko addressed reporters here on Sunday in the presence of sitting MLA and his party (MDMK) candidate for Madurai South assembly constituency M Boominathan.
He said that leaders of the opposition parties are criticising the crimes reported in Tamil Nadu. He said that though he does not deny crime happening in the state, immediate action is taken and the perpetrators are swiftly arrested during the past five years of DMK rule. Even in Delhi, which is the nation's capital, several incidents of crimes are reported every day and the same remains uncontrolled.
Criticising the AIADMK-BJP alliance, he said that in the alliance BJP makes all the decisions. AIADMK, which was once led by leaders M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, is now being guided by BJP. He said that AIADMK is now operating as a branch of BJP. This has upset the AIADMK supporters.
He said that the competition is only between DMK and AIADMK since TVK and NTK are acting as BJP's B-Team. He said that he is confident that the DMK-led alliance will achieve a historically significant victory with the support of the people.
