Congress, DMK against equality: Union minister

Madurai: The actions of Congress and DMK rejecting the women's reservation and delimitation bills clearly show that they stand against equality and do not want our ‘Nari Shakti' to get their rightful place, alleged Union minister of labour and employment, youth affairs and sports, Mansukh Mandaviya.Addressing reporters here on Sunday, Mandaviya said that what happened in Parliament exposed the true mindset of Congress and DMK. "This issue is not about just the bills. It is about intention. Why are they so afraid of empowering women? Why does every serious step towards women's representation make them uncomfortable? It seems DMK and Congress do not want power to go beyond a few families and their controlled political circles," he said.Mandaviya said that for decades, Congress and DMK kept the women's reservation bill pending, giving excuses and blocking it whenever the moment of decision arrived. Now, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi govt has brought the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill, they have once again tried to obstruct it. Women's empowerment is only a political slogan, not a commitment in their mindset.DMK and Congress are spreading lots of misinformation regarding delimitation. They have actually denied Tamil Nadu and south India their rightful representation. If they truly cared about the south, they would have acted decades ago. Instead, they are using misinformation to cover up their political failures. They are afraid that with more seats, more representation and more women entering politics, their dynastic control will weaken. "This fight will not stop here. The women of India will move forward, and no political obstruction can stop them.
