Complaint lodged against forest min

Madurai: Members from the Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam have lodged a complaint against Forest Minister Dindigul C Seenivasan with the Melur police station urging the station inspector to register a case in connection with the incident that took place in the Nilgiris, where he asked a boy to unbuckle his footwear.

A video of the forest minister, who visited a temple in the Nilgiris district, asking a boy to unbuckle his footwear was telecasted on news channels on Thursday.

In the petition addressed to the station inspector, district secretary of the organization Mani Amudhan stated that the forest minister should be booked under sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Prevention of Atrocities Act for asking the boy, who belongs to a tribal community, to unbuckle his footwear.

“The minister knew that he was tribal boy and asked him to do the job for him with casteist mindset. Along with the minister, officials and police personnel, who were present at the spot should also be booked under the same sections, he said.
