Cash burgled from two-wheeler showroom

Madurai: Unidentified people broke into a two-wheeler showroom near K Pudur in Madurai city through the roof of the building and made off with 1.9 lakh in cash from the drawers. Police said G Sivakumar, 40, of EB Colony, had locked his showroom on Alagar Kovil Main Road and left for home on Friday night. When he came to the showroom on Saturday morning and opened the shutters, he noticed signs of someone having been inside.When he checked the drawers, he found cash worth 1.9 lakh stolen. Soon, he found that some people had broken in through the roof to commit the burglary. The K Pudur police were alerted and a case was registered.
In another incident reported at S Thottanampatti Colony near Peraiyurunder in the district, an elderly woman was robbed of her gold chain. Police said senior citizen, V Seethalakshmi, was walking on Saturday night not far from her residence when an unknown person aged about 25 suddenly pushed her down and snatched the two-sovereign gold chain she was wearing on her neck.
