Madurai/Trichy: Noisy speakers of candidates which used to go on till 10 pm were turned off at 6 pm on Thursday as curtains came down on the campaign for the urban civic body polls to be held on Saturday. However, passive campaigns continued in digital mode in the forms of advertisement on websites and social media.
Candidates got into top gear on Thursday, not missing an opportunity to strike a chord with traders and locals by settling for photo-ops and greeting people as they raced to cover the entire ward one last time. While candidates were campaigning in one part of the ward, cadres emphasised the candidate’s name, party symbol and other information through loudspeakers on autorickshaws.
