PUDUKOTTAI: A 17-year-old boy from Sathurakadu in Thanjavur, who sustained a deep wound in his chest after being hit by his own jallikattu bull about a month ago, died on Thursday at Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai.
C Pugazhendhi had been undergoing treatment for a deep chest wound sustained during the jallikattu held at Veeramakaliyamman temple at Vamban, Pudukottai.
Alangudi police said Pugazhendhi brought the bull along with a few of his friends to the jallikattu on April 13. He as handling the bull when it hit him, causing severe chest injuries. He was initially admitted to Alangudi GH but was later shifted to Pudukottai MCH and then to Government Rajaji Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
His health condition deteriorated and he passed away around 8 pm on Thursday.
The police have booked a case and a post-mortem was performed on Friday before the body was handed over to the family.
