Tamil Nadu polls: BJP, AIADMK tried to incite violence, says Kanimozhi
Madurai/Sivaganga: BJP and AIADMK tried to incite violence and riots over Thiruparankundram issue, but the local people taught them a fitting lesson, said Tuticorin MP Kanimozhi in Madurai on Thursday."Tamil Nadu is a state where people have lived in unity as brothers and sisters of one family for generations. Regardless of their religion, everyone possesses religious faith. However, development remains priority of the people," she said while campaigning for Thiruparankundram DMK candidate Kiruthiga Thangapandi.

She alleged that BJP expected to come to power by setting off communal riots in Thiruparankundram just as they did in many parts of the country. On allegation that DMK govt was against temples and Hindus, she said more than 4,000 temples have seen consecration ceremonies under DMK rule, and nearly 7,500 acres of temple land has been recovered. "Thiruparankundram will be the starting point to prove there is no place for these ‘Sanghis in Tamil Nadu," she said. She also campaigned for candidates M Boominathan (MDMK) and minister P T R Palanivel Thiaga Rajan in Madurai South and Madurai Central respectively.
Earlier, she started her campaign from Keeladi, saying she wanted to start from the ‘motherland of the Tamils.' She said the Union govt was refusing to release Keeladi excavation report because it cannot impose Hindi or establish the dominance of Sanskrit through it. AIADMK has joined hands with such a BJP, she said.Kanimozhi claimed that the next job of Edappadi K Palaniswami is a governor post, as his future was now limited to that post. She charged Palaniswami with being someone who shamelessly suggested that Keeladi excavation report be modified. She said this election was a direct war between Tamils and Nagpur, which seeks to ruin the pride of Keeladi. She described TVK chief Vijay as the B-team of BJP.
