Madurai: The Bhoomi Pooja for the construction of a new corporation middle school in Keerathurai area was held on Friday under the leadership of corporation commissioner Chithra Vijayan and south assembly member Bhoominathan.
The school is currently functioning in a private building. A new school building is to be constructed at a site owned by the corporation, at an estimated cost of 3 crore from the corporation education fund, spanning 8,000sqft, with a ground floor and first floor comprising 16 classrooms.
Deputy mayor T Nagarajan, education committee chairman Ravichandran, assistant commissioner Manimaran, councillors, and several corporation officials participated.
