Madurai: Madurai city police announced various arrangements, including traffic movement, for the devotees coming to witness the annual
Karthigai Deepam festival to be held at Subramaniyaswamy Temple in Thiruparankundram.
The 10-day Karthigai Deepam festival began with hoisting of the flag on November 28. The highlight of the festival, lighting of ‘Maha Deepam’ atop the hill, is set to be held on December 6 (Tuesday).
Police said on Monday that a separate counter to leave footwear has been arranged near the 16-pillar mandapam at the temple.
Entry into the temple would be allowed only through the 16-pillar mandapam, Sannithi Theru, Keelaradhaveethi, and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR & CE) office. Devotees can exit the temple by making their way past Annadhaana mandapam, Melaradhaveethi, and Vadakuradhaveethi to reach the arch.
Police also made arrangements for traffic and parking vehicles. No vehicles will be allowed on Girivalam path and Thirupparankundram flyover.
Devotees will be permitted to park their vehicles in the parking area at Girivalam path Avaniyapuram Road junction and under the flyover near the all-women police station. All buses will be operated only via Bypass Road and not through Thirupparankundram flyover.
