Madurai: The Aishwaryam Trust, a Madurai-based NGO founded by a group of doctors, inaugurated a new 20-bed palliative cancer block adjacent to their Nethravathi Pain, Palliative Care & Rehabilitation Centre in Vilachery. The facility was inaugurated by Justice L Victoria Gowri of the Madras high court on Sunday.Justice Gowri expressed concern over the abandonment of elderly parents and commended the efforts of the doctors behind Aishwaryam Trust for their dedication to caring for the elderly and terminally ill. The event was attended by dignitaries, including R Rajagovindsamy, district governor of Rotary International District 3000, actor M Soundara Raja, and K Samidurai, state president of the Indian Lawyers Association.Dr R Balagurusamy, managing trustee, explained that the new cancer ward would enhance their ability to care for terminally ill and abandoned elderly patients.
