AISA protests non-issuance of TC by aided college

Madurai: The All India Students Association (AISA) on Monday held a stay-in agitation condemning the management of NMS S Vellaichamy Nadar College, a government aided college in Nagamalai Pudukottai, for not complying with the order of the regional joint director of collegiate education (RJDCE), Madurai, and demanding excess fees to issue TCs to recently passed out students.
The protest, led by AISA state committee member, K Mangayarkarasi and Madurai district organiser, R Devaraj, was held at the office of the RJDCE, Madurai. Members of AISA, SVN College wing, had been protesting against the college for collecting excess fees for the past few years. Recently, a group of students, including AISA members, who passed out, were denied their transfer certificates (TCs) by the college management if they did not pay the excess fees.
“We had to protest and later the RJDCE issued an order asking the SVN College management to provide us TCs without collecting any excess fees. However, when we went to collect TCs a couple of days ago, we were once again denied despite the RJDCE order and told to pay the excess fees,” claimed Devaraj.
R Pon Muthuramalingam, RJDCE, Madurai held talks with the students and assured that they will get their TCs without having to pay any excess fees. The AISA also demanded the Tamil Nadu government to ensure that all government aided colleges collect only the fees prescribed by the government and act against those who do not comply.
