Aavin agents complain about shortage of milk supply

Madurai: Aavin agents and retail sellers on Monday submitted a petition to the Madurai district administration complaining that they are not getting enough milk from Aavin to meet the demandThey said they are forced to buy only full boxes of milk packets. For instance, if an agent requires 3.5 boxes of milk packets, he or she can collect either three or four boxes, forcing them to shell out more money or get fewer packets. Agents said their commission per packet was not increased even after a hike in the price of the premium milk packet by 11 per litre. “Whenever the price of premium milk was raised, we used to get higher commission. This time, our commission was slashed by 3 to 4. Despite repeated requests, the Aavin management is not giving us the due commission,” they said. The new general manager is not ready to meet us to hear our grievances, they said. As our efforts to meet the GM went in vain, we have sought the intervention of the collector, they said.
