30kg ganja seized in Kanyakumari; five detained

Kanyakumari: The Kanyakumari district police seized 30kg of ganja and detained five people, including a minor boy, on Wednesday.According to a release from Kanyakumari police, the operation was carried out under the supervision of district superintendent of police R Stalin. Based on a tip-off, district police conducted a search operation in areas under the jurisdiction of Kanyakumari police station. The team recovered 30kg of ganja, a substance banned under the NDPS Act, and detained five individuals.The detained include M Vignesh, 22, of Kailasapuram, N Karthikeyan, 23, of Palayamkottai, Manoj Kumar, 23, of Thiruverkadu in Chennai, T Mahendran, 19, of Kalakkadu Bharathipuram, and a 16-year-old boy. Police said a few more suspects are being traced, and further investigations are underway.According to the statement, this is part of a broader anti-narcotics operation in the district. In the past four months alone, 103 ganja-related cases were registered, 196 people were arrested, and 87kg of ganja was seized. Authorities have warned that strict action will continue against those involved in drug trafficking. Police also urged youngsters to stay away from drugs.
