2.4L cash, pistol stolen from car

Madurai: Unidentified people made off with as much as 2.4 L, a pistol, ATM cards and other items from the parked car of a 44-year-old doctor in Madurai on Wednesday.
According to the police, Dr A Pladpin, 44, of Kanyakumari was travelling in his car with friends and was crossing the Chinthamani Ring Road in Madurai on Wednesday at around 4.30am. They parked the car and rested briefly near the Chinthamani tollgate before continuing their travel.
However, later they found that various items including cash were stolen from the car. The thieves had also stolen a pistol and 10 bullets, a smart tablet, 16 ATM cards, and bags.
Based on Pladpin’s complaint, the Keeraithurai police registered a case and were investigating.
In another incident, a man and a woman stole 18.5 lakh from a jewellery shop worker near Pandi Bazaar. Police said that K Krishnamoorthi, 54, of South Avani Moola Street, a jeweller had given the cash to his employee, Tamilarasan for purchasing old jewellery at Kerala. However, the two accused distracted him near Pandi Bazaar and stole the cash. The Thilagar Thidal police registered a case and were investigating.
