Woman, parents booked for duping husband of Rs 31 lakh

Ludhiana: Machhiwara Police filed a case against a woman and her parents for duping her husband of Rs 31 lakh. The woman went abroad but did not help her husband get there, despite taking money from him for immigration. The accused were identified as Jatinder Kaur, her father Jarnail Singh of Nawanshahr Tehsil in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, and his wife Balwinder Kaur.
The complainant, Princepal Singh of Sheriyan in Machhiwara, filed a complaint with Khanna Police. After investigation, a case was registered following approval from SSP Khanna.
The complainant told the police that his aunt, who lives in Rahon, got him married to Jatinder Kaur on May 6, 2018. She informed him that she would help him to move to Canada, provided his family bore the expenses. He said that Jatinder Kaur cleared IELTS in the third attempt and went to Canada, for which his family spent Rs 30 lakh.
The complainant said that after going to Canada, the accused stopped talking to him and kept making excuses when asked to help him get there. Later, she, along with her parents, filed for divorce. Machhiwara police filed a case against the accused under relevant sections.
