The deceased has been identified as Pawan Kumar Mishra, 35 a resident of Avneet Nagar of village Gill. The Sadar police have lodged an FIR against Pawan's wife Puneeta Mishra, her sisters Dolly and Gayatri, Puneeta’s lover Rajan Shukla and Rajan’s friend Varinder Kumar alias Monu.

Pawan was found injured in the fields of village when its owners saw him and rushed him to a nearby hospital as he was alive. However Pawan succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

ASI Tarsem Singh, In-charge at Marado Police post, said that during the probe the police found that Pawan’s wife had illicit relation with the man, moreover Pawan had come to know about it. This was the lead so police questioned Puneeta and her sisters during which they confessed their crime. Puneeta further revealed the names of Rajan Shukla and his friend Varinder Kumar who were also involved in the murder.

ASI added that Puneet had developed an illicit relationship with Rajan Shukla six months ago. Pawan had come to know about it who objected to it and deterred Puneeta to meet Rajan. Puneet and Rajan hatched a conspiracy to kill Pawan. The accused found an isolated spot at the path that Pawan would choose to come home. They all were waiting for him on Thursday night with a sharp edged weapon. When Pawan was returning home, they attacked him. Pawan ran from there towards the fields but the accused chased him and assaulted him again.

A case under sections 103 (1) (murder), 3 (5) (criminal conspiracy) of BNS has been registered against the accused, who have been arrested, said the ASI.
