Woman, aides booked for forging will after cousin’s death

Ludhiana: Division number 8 police have filed a case against a Delhi-based woman, her brother, and two accomplices for allegedly forging the will of the deceased cousin of senior advocate and former parliamentary secretary Harish Rai Dhanda. The accused also allegedly withdrew cash from the bank account of the wife of the deceased and stole valuables from her residence.Individuals named in the FIR include Kamini Sharma of New Delhi, her brother Rajiv Sharma, Sanjay Kumar of Rajpura (Patiala), and Satwinder Singh of Shambhu (Patiala).Advocate Dhanda stated that Kamini Sharma is the sister of his sister-in-law, Kumkum Rai. Kumkum had married Dhanda's cousin, Prashant Rai, against her family's wishes, leading to estrangement. Kumkum passed away on Dec 17, 2024, due to illness. Shortly before her death, she resumed contact with Kamini.Dhanda alleged that after Kumkum's death, the accused forged a will to claim her property. He discovered that the will was prepared just one day before her death. During investigation, police found the will to be fake and are now verifying the signatures.ASI Raj Kumar, who is leading the investigation, confirmed that an FIR has been registered under Sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
