Without water supply for 24 hours
LUDHIANA: Residents of Sarabha Nagar B block were left high and dry as water supply remained disrupted for 24 hours. The supply, which had interrupted on Sunday afternoon due to a technical snag in tube well, resumed the next day, with the municipal corporation dilly-dallying on rectifying the fault.
The water-less day made it difficult for area residents to carry out their daily chores.

A businessman, Amarjit Singh, said, ''It was all the more difficult as it was a working day. I had to attend an important businessman meeting, but as there was no water, I had to postpone it.''
Meenakshi Sharma, a homemaker, said, ''In these 24 hours, I have learnt the importance of water... without it, everything came to a standstill at our place.'' Meena Kohli, another homemaker, said, ''Though there was some water in the tanks, it was soon over. MC should have solved the problem in time.'' Shakti Gupta, a shopkeeper, said the authorities had claimed that there would be no water supply problem in summers, but they had a harrowing time for two days.
MC officers, however, said there was a technical snag in the tube well which could not be rectified on a non-working Sunday.
Sub-divisional officer of operation and maintenance cell Balwinder Singh said, ''We had not received any complaint from the area residents. A fault had disrupted supply, but it was rectified on Monday afternoon.''
