Two more nabbed in financier Jindi’s killing case
Ludhiana: Three weeks after a masked gunman shot dead a trader at the busy Jawahar Camp market in the evening, Ludhiana police arrested two more accused in the case. Police have already arrested the main accused and dreaded gangster Sukhwinder Singh Moni and his accomplice Sumit Chhoti a native of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh on February 3.
City police commissioner Rakesh Agrawal said here on Wednesday that of the seven persons who were involved into the killing of financier Harjinder Singh Jindi, four have been arrested while hunt is on to nab the remaining accused.
The two accused who were arrested on Wednesday were identified as Mani Kumar and Jatin Kumar of Jawahar Nagar. Cops are yet to nab their three accomplices, who have been identified as Jatinder Kumar Bala of Jawahar Nagar, Harvinder Pal Singh of Labour Colony, Jawahar Nagar and Darpan of Sham Nagar.
Police said that Sukhwinder Moni was the master mind and he along with Sumit Choti had killed deceased. They added that the other accused had conducted the reccee of the crime spot many times and shared minute details with Moni and Choti before they shot dead Jhindi in a private clinic at busy Jawahar Nagar Camp on January 23. The accused took about 10 days to plan the killing.
He claimed that Moni has confessed to have committed the crime as he suspected that Jindi had shared information about him with the police. He added that Moni has twenty cases against him including murder, bank dacoity, while Sumit Choti is wanted in eleven cases.
Regarding financier’s murder, he claimed that Moni along with other accused had come to city on Lohri from Ambala for carrying out recce and had then left for Haridwar. They stole a Maruti Wagon R from Bahadurpur in Haridwar on January 19. They also stole a motorcycle and used both the vehicles in committing crime. The accused used fake number plate on the stolen car to evade being caught. After committing the crime, the accused went to Saharanpur and then went to Haridwar, police said.
During the investigation, the police recovered the stolen car, two pistols, seven live cartridges, a motorcycle and fake number plate. Cops said that apart from vehicles, police has recovered Gold chain and locket, and a wallet containing documents of the deceased from the accused.
Agarwal informed that Moni earlier headed a gang of about 45 members, of whom 25 are already behind bars. Five of the gang members have died while remaining are on the run.
Moni had taken Rs 10 lakh as contract killing money to shoot an Ambala based hotelier on December 6 last year, who had escaped with serious injuries. Ambala police has already registered an attempt to murder case against him.
