Trader arrested for selling crackers without licence

LUDHIANA: The police on Saturday

arrested

a shopkeeper for selling firecrackers illegally at his shop on Railway Road in Khanna.

Khanna DSP Deepak Rai said, “On a tip-off, a police party raided the shop of Sanjeev Kumar Sanju, a resident of Jagat Colony here, and recovered 236 boxes of firecrackers. He was arrested under sections 5/9B of the Explosives Act, 1884, and Section 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) of the

Indian Penal Code

, as he had no permit or licence to sell these.”

Besides, 110 litres of acid was also recovered from Sanjeev’s shop. “He had no licence for acid sale too,” the DSP added.
