LUDHIANA: Concerned about misuse of his picture, Ludhiana police commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu issued written orders to police officials, SHOs and police post in-charges to beware of people who approached them for any work claiming to be close to him.
He said that after he joined, many people visited him. He said they presented bouquets and got their pictures clicked with him. Later, he said, some were showing these pictures to officers to get their works done. In any case, he pointed out, police action should be based on merit.
"I respect people who come to meet me and present a bouquet. However, this does not mean that they can misuse the picture clicked with me to get any of their work done. Some people tried to do it and so I felt it was important to issue a written order. The force has been directed to work only on merit," he said.
