According to police reports, a sugarcane juice vendor Naresh Sharma,42, his wife Bharti Sharma, 38, and daughter Mansi Sharma, 16 , residents of Dhariwal, swallowed some poisonous substance. However, before taking the extreme step

recorded a video and uploaded it on social media wherein she had blamed 9 persons including her brother for instigating them to finish their lives. She is also seen carrying a small box in her hands and saying that her brother had sent the sulphas through someone with a message that it is better to die than being humiliated.

Rajinder Singh Sohal

informed TOI that Naresh Sharma’s son Kunal Sharma alleged that his parents and sister consumed sulphas as they were having a monetory dispute with their relatives who allegedly abetted them to take the extreme step.

All of them were rushed to Amritsar hospital for treatment. However, Naresh Sharma died at Batala while his wife and daughter died in Amritsar.

Sohal said that a case under section 306 IPC had been registered at Dhariwal police station and begun investigation adding that so far police had arrested one person in the case.
