Ludhiana: The parents of a Class-VIII student of a private school at

lodged a police complaint on Tuesday, accusing a physical education teacher of beating up the child for being 15 minutes late. They claim that the child suffered internal injury of the ear and was having problems in hearing.
The boy’s mother, Pooja Verma, has claimed that her son was feeling unwell on April 21 and, so, his father dropped him off to school, which is why he got 15 minutes late. She said: “After my husband left the school, the physical education teacher treated my son brutally. Apart from the ear, he also injured the boy’s neck and face. When I went to pick up my child from the school, I was shocked to find him crying. When I confronted the teacher, he replied rudely.”

, station house officer (SHO) of Division Number 6, confirmed that police had received the complaint and the inquiry was on. “The action will be taken on the basis of inquiry,” she said. Asked about the incident, deputy district education officer Charanjeet Singh said: “We keep an eye on the routine complaints and will mark an inquiry in this case immediately. Generally, these issues resolved in two days by appointing a nearby government school’s principal as head of the investigation panel.”
