Ludhiana: On Sunday, a senior social activist Yogesh Sharma joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. After joining the saffron party, Sharma claimed he is very happy to join BJP and that he will ensure he works hard for the party’s welfare and not let down the senior leadership that chose him.
The district unit of the saffron party has also started doing ward-wise meetings with workers, keeping a view of the upcoming municipal corporation (MC) elections in the district.

On Sunday, a meeting took place in ward numbers 72 and 73. The workers are being told to gear up for the elections so that the party could perform well and win maximum seats. The BJP leaders claimed they will contest the elections in a way so that the newly elected mayor should be from the BJP.
The BJP district president Pushpinder Singhal said, “We are doing meetings in every ward to channelise the workers for the elections. The dates are yet to be announced, but we have already started working at the ground level because this time, we will contest at all seats in the MC elections.”
He said they’re certain they’ll will win the elections, this time.
Notably, in the previous elections, the BJP had contested in alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), but after they parted ways in the assembly elections, the party workers are full of enthusiasm to contest at all seats.
